Freshman guard R.J. Nembhard, one of TCU's top signees, will likely redshirt this season because of a knee injury, coach Jamie Dixon said Monday following the Horned Frogs’ 91-72 victory against Texas Southern.

Nembhard did not play in the game against Texas Southern, and he did not play in the Frogs’ previous game against Nevada on Dec. 8.

Nembhard had averaged 6.2 minutes, just outside of Dixon's regular eight-player rotation. He scored a season-high six points with two assists in 14 minutes against Omaha on Nov. 20, his most extensive action in five games played for the 15th-ranked Frogs.

Nembhard was rated four stars and the 11th-best recruit in the state out of Keller High School, where he averaged 26.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists as a senior in leading his team to a 32-3 record and its first state tournament appearance.

He averaged 21 points as a junior and also had offers from Baylor, Oklahoma and Texas.
