Lucas Lovejoy High School wide receiver Chase Van Wagoner committed to TCU football’s class of 2018 on Saturday afternoon, Rivals.com and Scout.com reported.
It is TCU’s 10th football commitment in 2018.
Rivals reported that it came down to the Horned Frogs, Arizona, Arizona State and Duke for the three-star receiver, who was third in the long jump at the UIL Class 5A state track and field meet in May.
Van Wagoner, rated 98th overall in Texas, told Rivals he liked TCU’s proximity to home (Lovejoy High School is just east of Allen in Collin County) but “not too close.”

In a tweet after TCU extended a scholarship offer earlier this month, the 6-foot-1, 176-pound Van Wagoner wrote “Super excited to receive an offer from my childhood dream school TCU!”
Not counted in the 10 commitments is baseball-football commitment Alek Thomas, of Chicago, a heralded baseball prospect who is projected as a wide receiver in college football.
It is the third straight day TCU has had a commitment announced, 247Sports pointed out, and the second wide receiver in three days.
