Rain forces delay of TCU-Virginia and sends second game in FW Regional to Monday
An hour-long rain shower postponed the start of a Fort Worth Regional winner’s bracket game Sunday between TCU and Virginia to a scheduled 9:04 p.m. first pitch.
TCU and Virginia were scheduled to begin at 4:15, with the winner advancing to the regional final on Monday. The loser was scheduled to play Dallas Baptist following the 4:15 game, but that game was pushed back to 2:04 p.m. Monday.
Dallas Baptist eliminated Central Connecticut State 6-5 in a game that started at noon Sunday.
The TCU-Virginia winner will play at 7:04 p.m. Monday against the winner of Monday’s first game.
If a second championship game is necessary, it would be played Tuesday at a time to be determined.
The start of the tournament was delayed one day when rain washed out two games scheduled for Friday. Two games were played Saturday, but after a three-hour delay because of rain.
