Rain delays FW Regional to Saturday; three games scheduled Sunday
Rain forced the postponement of the opening day of the Fort Worth Regional on Friday at Lupton Stadium, pushing both scheduled games to Saturday.
The Virginia-Dallas Baptist game (Game 1) started at about 6 p.m. Saturday, with the TCU game against Central Connecticut State (Game 2) to follow as long as it does not start after 11 p.m. Saturday.
The schedule for Sunday was also updated:
▪ Game 3: Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2 at noon
▪ Game 4: Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2 at 4 p.m.
▪ Game 5: Winner Game 3 vs. Loser Game 4 at 8 p.m.
Two championship games, if necessary, could be played Monday.
Keeping a Monday finish to the regional would allow the champion to play its super regional on the scheduled rest.
Virginia and Dallas Baptist delayed their scheduled 3 p.m. first pitch Friday to wait out lightning, then rain began shortly before 3:30. It continued off and on until the postponement announcement at 6:15.
NCAA rules require 55 minutes between games, and no games can start after 11 p.m.
