After a three-game sweep of Baylor, the TCU baseball team will continue its homestand Tuesday and Wednesday against UT Pan American at Lupton Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. both days.
The Horned Frogs (14-2), ranked No. 1 in the USA Today coaches’ poll, are hosting a rare two-game midweek set against the Broncs because UTPA (10-6) will be making an eight-hour drive traveling from Edinburg.
Left-hander Tyler Alexander is scheduled to start Tuesday, his second midweek start of the season. The sophomore from Southlake Carroll pitched four innings of one-run ball at Loyola Marymount last week as the Frogs won 6-2.
Right-hander Brian Howard will pitch Wednesday for TCU, which returned from a four-game trip to Los Angeles to sweep Baylor 3-1, 3-2 and 10-1 in its Big 12 series opener.
Starters Mitchell Traver, Preston Morrison and Alex Young earned wins over the weekend. Jeremie Fagnan and Evan Skoug homered on Sunday as TCU had 14 hits.
Center fielder and leadoff hitter Cody Jones has been on a tear for the Frogs, going 8 for 9 against Baylor and reaching base 11 consecutive times. Jones, a senior, is batting .387.
UTPA is coming off a series win over Arlington Baptist College, winning 12-1 on Friday and 7-0 on Sunday. Tuesday’s game will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest.
TCU won’t leave Tarrant County the rest of the month. The Frogs host Oklahoma State this weekend, Oklahoma next Tuesday and Wichita State next weekend before playing at UT Arlington on March 31.
