TCU’s Anderson picked for honorable mention
TCU senior guard Kyan Anderson was selected honorable mention to the coaches’ All-Big 12 team announced Sunday. Anderson averages 13.8 points and 4.3 assists per game.
Making the first team were Rico Gathers of Baylor, Georges Niang of Iowa State, Perry Ellis of Kansas, Buddy Hield of Oklahoma and Juwan Staten of West Virginia.
Bob Huggins of West Virginia was the coach of the year and Hield was the player of the year.
Others awarded were Jameel McKay of Iowa State (top defender), Taurean Prince of Baylor (sixth man), TaShawn Thomas of Oklahoma (top newcomer) and Euless Trinity grad Myles Turner of Texas (top freshman).

▪ Men’s tennis: TCU fell to host Wake Forest 4-3 on Sunday. It was the sixth time the Frogs (9-5) played a Top 20 opponent this season. The Demon Deacons are ranked No. 20.
Nick Chappell, Guillermo Nuñez and Arnau Dachs won singles matches for TCU. Hudson Blake and Facundo Lugones won a doubles match.
▪ Equestrian: No. 4 TCU claimed three MOP accolades over the weekend, but lost to No. 6 Fresno State and No. 2 Georgia on consecutive days.
The Frogs battled Fresno State to a 9-9 draw, but lost by an overall raw score of 1,576.75-1,570.75. TCU fell to Georgia 10-5.
▪ Sand volleyball: The Horned Frogs dropped both matches on Saturday afternoon on the final day of the Arizona Invitational in Tucson, Ariz.
The Horned Frogs lost 5-0 to Arizona State and No. 15 Tulane.
UTA softball falls
Devon Thomey and Ashley Fultz each knocked in four runs, leading Texas Tech (13-5) to a 13-5 victory over UT Arlington on the final day of the Texas Tech Invitational.
Nina Villanueva knocked in three runs for the Mavericks (14-10). She had a run-scoring triple in the first inning and a two-run single in the fourth. Britnea Barilli had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI.
