After canceled series, TCU baseball set to host Rice
After bad weather wiped out its series against Cal Poly, the TCU baseball team will return to action Tuesday night against Rice at Lupton Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and right-hander Mitchell Traver is expected to start for TCU.
The Horned Frogs (7-1) last played on Wednesday in a 1-0 win over Texas Southern. Their game Friday against Poly was pushed to Saturday and then pushed again to Sunday with the hopes of salvaging a doubleheader.
But icy conditions and freezing temperatures prevented any baseball. It was TCU’s first canceled series since 2009.
The Owls (8-5) are coming off a four-game home series split with Stanford, beating the Cardinal 12-1 on Sunday. They’ll be TCU’s first test in what should be one of the toughest weeks of the season.
The Frogs will play USC, UCLA and defending national champion Vanderbilt this weekend at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. They wrap up the road trip March 10 at Loyola Marymount.
