TCU linebacker earns Big 12 defensive award following Baylor win
TCU linebacker Travin Howard earned the defensive player of the week award in the Big 12 following a 12-tackle performance against Baylor, the league announced Monday.
Howard and the Horned Frogs held the league’s top rushing offense to 133 yards, less than half its normal total, in a 62-22 victory on Saturday in Waco.
Howard, a junior from Longview, totaled double-figures in tackles for a sixth consecutive game. He now has 100 tackles in back-to-back seasons, the first TCU player to do that since Martin Patterson in 2003 and 2004.
TCU players have won a conference player of the week award seven times this year, including twice for special teams by returner KaVontae Turpin.
