Cody Jones’ two-out single in the ninth broke a 2-2 tie and TCU, ranked No. 1 by Collegiate Baseball, took a 3-2 victory and a 2-1 series win Sunday at No. 8 Arizona State.

Evan Williams drew a one-out walk in the ninth and moved to second on Dane Steinhagen’s single.

With two outs, Jones ripped a single into left field. Williams rounded third and arrived at the plate at the same time the ball did. His slide across the plate dislodged the ball, giving TCU a 3-2 lead.

Riley Ferrell retired the side in order in the bottom of the ninth to pick up his first save of the season for the Horned Frogs (6-1).

TCU starter Alex Young went five innings, giving up two runs, both on home runs, on four hits.

Derek Odell’s RBI single in the third and an error after Connor Wanhanen’s walk and Evan Skoug’s single in the sixth forged 1-1 and 2-2 ties, respectively, for the Frogs.

Game moved back

Inclement weather forced TCU to move its home game against Texas Southern from Tuesday night to Wednesday night. Game time will remain 6:30 at Lupton Stadium.
