TCU women take aim on No. 5 Aggies
TCU welcomes its toughest challenge of the nonconference schedule Sunday against undefeated No. 5 Texas A&M.
The Aggies are averaging 71.4 points per game and shooting 46 percent from the field. Last Sunday, A&M toppled No. 8 Duke 63-59.
The Aggies are led by junior guard Courtney Walker, who is averaging 16.3 points per game, followed by Courtney Williams with 12.8 points per game.
Sunday will mark TCU senior guard Alexia Standish’s first matchup against her old team after her transfer to TCU before last season. Standish is averaging nine points per game for TCU, trailing the Horned Frogs’ scoring leader, Zahna Medley, who has posted 16.3 points per game.
TCU and A&M will meet for the 37th time, with the Aggies owning a 32-4 series lead.
The Frogs are coming off an 82-68 victory over Missouri State at the Omni Classic in Boulder, Colo. TCU was led by Medley, who had 29 points, including 5-of-7 from 3-point range.
Senior Donielle Breaux was named to the Omni Classic All-Tournament Team after averaging 15 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists during the two games in Boulder.
