Bedlam caps disappointing seasons for Oklahoma, Oklahoma State
Oklahoma State (5-6, 3-5 Big 12) at No. 20 Oklahoma (8-3, 5-3 Big 12) (2:30 p.m. Saturday, FS1): The Sooners haven’t had the season they expected. Oklahoma’s early championship hopes were dashed with close losses to TCU and Kansas State and a home blowout loss to Baylor. But a win in Bedlam, and the Sooners will have a shot at a 10-win season with a bowl win. Oklahoma State’s once promising season has also disintegrated. Although, the Cowboys dropoff has been much steeper. Oklahoma State was one 5-1, with the loss coming in a close game against defending national champion Florida State. But the Cowboys have lost five straight in Big 12 play and will miss bowl season with a loss today. Oklahoma State has moved the ball well on offense but has really missed the big plays injured quarterback J.W. Walsh provided last year. Walsh’s replacement, Daxx Garman, has thrown for 2,041 yards and 12 touchdowns but also has 12 interceptions. Garman and the Cowboys will need to eliminate turnovers if they hope to pull out a rivalry upset at Oklahoma. The Sooners’ defense has forced 18 turnovers, with cornerback Zack Sanchez, from Keller Central, leading the way with five interceptions.
