UTA survives late rally, wins in extras
UT Arlington blew a five-run lead after a strong start from Daniel Milliman, but Eric Tate scored on a throwing error in the top of the 10th to help the Mavericks salvage a 6-5 win over Arkansas-Little Rock Friday night at Hogan Field.
UTA (23-24, 12-10 Sun Belt) jumped to a 5-0 lead, but the Trojans (20-25, 5-15) tied it in the seventh.
Milliman went six innings, faced two batters in the seventh and was charged with two runs, one unearned. T.J. Whidby allowed three runs in relief and recorded just one out before Chad Nack (1-1) pitched the final 3 2/3 innings for the win.
Tate doubled to lead off the 10th, moved to third on a balk and scored when the throw home on Ryan Bottger’s chopper sailed high.
