Texas Tech football fan offers to trade goldendoodle puppy for BYU game tickets
A college football fan proposed an interesting payment method for tickets to Texas Tech’s matchup against BYU this weekend.
User EduRaider offered to trade a goldendoodle puppy for four tickets to the game on a Texas Tech forum on On3.com. The poster said they have a litter that will be ready before Christmas and that they typically sell the males for $1,500 to $2,000.
“DM me if interested… or if you just want a great pup from a reputable breeder. The mom of this litter was a therapy dog and the dad is super chill. These will be great dogs!” the rest of the post read.
EduRaider posted again right after the initial message, saying that their twin daughters were just accepted to Tech’s Honors College, and they wanted to celebrate the occasion.
The post was met with jokes, confusion and some interest in the pup.
“Well, this is a first,” one commenter wrote.
“I mean that’s a pretty good deal if you want a dog,” another person wrote.
Two days later, EduRaider posted again in the forum saying that someone took them up on the offer, but it’s not going to work out.
“Then my daughter’s varsity basketball game got moved to Saturday due to a conflict with volleyball playoffs. As if I needed another reason to hate volleyball,” the post read. “Almost created and completed an awesome story.”
A few commenters quickly questioned the validity of the deal, and if the person is still owed a new dog.
EduRaider wrote that there was no deal in place, only discussion about the transaction. They also noted that the possible scheduling conflict was mentioned in the negotiation.
If things had worked out, EduRaider wrote that they would have arranged a transfer for the tickets and sent pictures of puppies to choose from. However, it did not get to that point.
“If we had agreed to a deal, he picked out the puppy, and I took the tickets then told him I need to back out… you would have a point,” the post read. “That’s not what happened.”
As for the Texas Tech (8-1) and BYU (8-0) game, tickets are still available — but they’re not cheap.
The lowest price per ticket for four seats on Ticketmaster is $446.35, for a total of $1,785.40 before additional fees. On SeatGeek, the lowest price per ticket for four seats is $379 for a total of $1,516.
