Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers announces plans for 2025 season
Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft.
Ewers put a video on X, celebrating his time in Austin and his achievements with the program.
“My entire life I’ve dreamed of playing football on the 40 acres, these past three years have been some of the best years I could’ve imagined,” said Ewers, “ The relationships I built between coaches and teammates will last forever. I’m truly thankful for the opportunity to play football in my home state at the best university in the world. With prayer and careful consideration, I’m officially declaring for the NFL Draft.”
Ewers transferred to Texas after spending one season at Ohio State, where he enrolled early after playing at Southlake Carroll.
Ewers started for the Longhorns for three seasons, helping to lead Texas to its first two College Football Playoff appearances. Both trips to the CFP playoffs ended in the semifinal round, the first a loss to the Washington Huskies in 2024 and the second, a loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 10.
Ewers threw for 9,128 yards with 68 touchdowns and 24 interceptions and earned second-team all-conference selections in both the Big 12 (2023) and SEC (2024).
Ewers’ departure clears the way for Arch Manning.
ESPN’s Mel Kiper has Ewers ranked as the fifth-best QB prospect in this year’s draft behind Shedeur Sanders of Colorado, Cam Ward of Miami, Jaxson Dart of Ole Miss and Jalen Milroe of Alabama.
