Everything to know before Oklahoma plays Navy in Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl

Fresh off their first season in the SEC, Oklahoma will return to Fort Worth to play the Navy Midshipmen in the Armed Forces Bowl.

Here’s what fans need to know before this clash between the American Athletic Conference and the SEC.

Oklahoma (6-6) vs. Navy (8-3)

The Sooners will play the Midshipmen at 2 p.m. on Dec. 27 at Amon G. Carter Stadium and the game will air on ESPN.

Location: Fort Worth

Players to know: Oklahoma: Linebacker Danny Stutsman had 109 tackles, eight tackles for loss and a sack on his way to be selected on the USA Today all-conference team for the SEC.

Navy: Linebacker Colin Ramos was a first-team All-AAC nomination for the second year in a row after racking up 110 tackles, eight tackles for loss, three sacks and a forced fumble.

It’s a fact: The Sooners will play in a school-record 26th straight bowl game, the second-longest active streak in the nation behind Georgia’s 28.

The Navy will make its third trip to the Armed Forces Bowl (the Midshipmen are 1-1) and hope to avoid a second straight postseason defeat at Amon G. Carter Stadium.

Last time: This will be the first game between the programs this millennium. The two teams’ last meeting came in 1965, a 10-0 victory for the Midshipmen.

Bowl history: The Sooners are 31-20-1 in bowl games in school history while the Navy sports a 12-11-1 record.
