UTA drops fourth straight while Mean Green edge Missouri State thanks to Terriell Bradley
Junior Andres Ibarguen posted a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds, but UTA shot just 39 percent and plunged to its fourth straight loss, 76-65, against UTRGV on Saturday at College Park Center.
UTA (3-5) saw early offensive struggles, shooting 4 of 16 from the field and trailed 13-9 with 13:46 left in the first half.
Andres Ibarguen was dominant on the glass for the Mavs early, grabbing six rebounds in the first 9 minutes. The Mavs secured 28 first half rebounds.
Rio Grand Valley (6-4) stayed its course and shot 40 percent in the first half and held a 32-29 lead going into the break.
UTRGV scored the first six points to open up the second half leading 38-29.
Ibarguen muscled his way into the paint and scored a quick bucket to narrow the gap, 46-41.
With 7:14 left in the second half, Radshad Davis knocked down the Mavs lone three-pointer and brought UTA within striking distance, 53-50.
The Vaquero’s closed out Saturday contest on a 20-9 run in the final four minutes to seal the win.
Despite winning the rebound battle 46-27, the Mavs coughed up 21 turnovers that accounted for 21 fast-break points for UTRGV.
No other Mav in double-digits, David Azore added eight points and eight rebounds, and Davis chipped in seven points and 9 boards.
UTA looks to bounce back as they travel to Missouri to take on the Tigers on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
UNT 83, MISSOURI STATE 76
Terriell Bradley continues her hot shooting streak and charted 36 points to lead UNT to an 83-76 overtime victory over Missouri State on Saturday afternoon at the Super Pit.
UNT(4-4) was fueled by Bradley’s performance and was her third consecutive game scoring 30-plus points.
Tied as the clock expired, the Mean Green kept its high-energy and outscored Missouri State 13-6 to seal the win in overtime.
Anisha George added a double-double consisting of 12 points and 12 rebounds.
