UTA erases 6-0 deficit,claims SBC series victory
UT Arlington dug itself out of an early 6-0 hole and stormed back to defeat Troy 10-7 on Sunday at Clay Gould Ballpark and win the Sun Belt Conference baseball series.
Jacob Moreland (3-1) earned the victory in relief, giving up one run on six hits in 5 2/3 innings.
Troy (21-20, 10-8 SBC) struck for six runs in the first two innings, but UTA (17-21, 8-10) scored two runs in each of the second and third innings before adding five more in the fourth to grab a 9-6 lead.
Cody Farrell led the Mavericks’ comeback by going 4 for 5 with three RBIs and two runs. Travis Sibley went 3 for 5 with two RBIs and two runs as UTA racked up 16 hits.
The Mavericks next travel to College Station on Tuesday to take on No. 1 Texas A&M. The 2:05 p.m. game will be televised on SEC Network.
