Texas Longhorns running back transferring
Texas running back Chris Warren III is transferring for his senior year, a source confirmed Monday morning.
The news was first reported by orangebloods.com.
The junior, who attended Rockwall High School, has 1,150 yards and 13 touchdowns in his career, including 314 yards and six scores this season. And injury limited him to four games in ’16.
His lack of playing time and position change from a featured back to halfback contributed his decision, a source with direct knowledge of the decision said. Warren will have to sit out a year if he transfers to another FBS school, per NCAA rules.
His father, Chris Warren, played 11 seasons in the NFL, including his last three (1998-2000) with the Dallas Cowboys.
