UTA baseball holds off Abilene Christian

Travis Sibley went 2 for 4, including a two-run double in the second inning to lead UT Arlington to a 3-1 victory Tuesday at Abilene Christian.

UTA starter Kyle Laberge (1-1) gave up a run on one hit in 5 2/3 innings for the Mavericks (6-6). He seven and walked three for the win. Daniel James gave up two hits, but no runs in 1 1/3 innings. Zach Hobbs worked the eighth and Colin Torber the ninth for his fourth save of the season.

With two outs in the second, Brady Cox beat out an infield single to third and stole second. Cody Ferrell walked to put runners on first and second for Sibley, who lined a shot down the left-field line to give the Mavericks a 2-0 lead.

Sibley also doubled and scored a run in the fourth inning on an RBI double by Christian Hollie to right-center to put the Mavericks up 3-0.

Abilene Christian (1-10) got on the board in the sixth on an RBI single by Alex Copeland to right-center.
