Former University of Texas wideout and Aledo all state standout Ryan Newsome announced Saturday on Twitter that he’s going to Arizona State - choosing the Sun Devils over Michigan State.

Newsome announced early last month that he was transferring away from Texas after one season where he played in seven games and had four catches for 23 yards and six kickoff returns for 110 yards. At Aledo, he was a two-time all-state selection and won back-to-back state championships.

As a senior in 2014, Newsome finished with 41 catches in the regular season for 790 yards and 10 TDs. He rushed for 177 yards on 24 carries and four TDs. He also had 13 punt returns for 355 yards and four TDs, and five kickoff returns for 203 yards and one touchdown. He was 5A honorable mention all state and first team all district 8-5A.

Early last year, Newsome committed to UCLA, but nearly a month later, switched over to Texas. He also thanked the Texas fans on Twitter saying, “Thanks to the Longhorn fans for all of your well wishes and continued support! Means a lot to me and my family!”
