Texas Wild falls in tiebreaker to Austin Aces

The Texas Wild lost to Austin 23-22 in a World TeamTennis supertiebreaker Thursday night at Four Seasons Resort and Club.

The Wild led in points as the Aces won the final match, mixed doubles, which forced overtime under WTT rules. Austin won the supertiebreaker 7-4.

Texas’ Aisam Qureshi and Alex Bogomolov Jr. defeated John-Patrick Smith and Treat Huey 5-2 in men’s doubles. Smith was subbing for Austin’s Andy Roddick.

In women’s singles, Texas’ Anabel Medina Garrigues defeated Vera Zvonareva, a former Wimbledon finalist, 5-4.

Rain forced the match to be moved indoors.
