Fort Worth Vaqueros fall short on late goal
The San Antonio Corinthians knocked off Fort Worth for the second time this week.
A goal in the 78th minute allowed San Antonio to snatch a 2-1 home victory Friday night against the Vaqueros in a more competitive game than on Monday, when Fort Worth (1-7-1, 4 points) fell to the Corinthians (6-3, 18 points) 5-0.
“The team played outstanding tonight,” Fort Worth coach Mark Snell said. “We dominated possession but just couldn’t find the back of the net. I was very pleased, and we look forward to our final NPSL game on Sunday.”
Vaqueros forward Dalibor Golubovic tied the game with an unassisted strike in the 28th minute.
The Vaqueros wrap up their inaugural National Premier Soccer League regular season Sunday in College Station.
