Ticket connection? “I got them through the school for $40, but airfares and hotels were pretty expensive. Some people took the bus, though.”

For students who didn’t fly, UConn had a bus leave at 6 a.m. Friday morning that arrived in the area 28 hours later, at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Final Four thoughts: “First of all, I’m a huge Dallas Cowboys fan so I was definitely coming once they won. I’m just excited and can’t wait to see the Final Four. I think we’ve superseded a lot of peoples’ expectations, but we’re here.”

1986 look back

LSU and Kansas were the losers in the semifinal round. For LSU, it marked a successful season as the Tigers made an improbable run to the Final Four as a No. 11 seed. For Kansas, it was a disappointing end as the Jayhawks were a No. 1 seed and eyeing their first national championship since 1952.
