NFL Fans Blasting Chris Simms For His All-Time Quarterback Rankings
If Chris Simms was trying to annoy NFL fans around the country this week, he accomplished his goal in under 24 hours.
Earlier this week, Simms ranked the top 10 quarterbacks "in their prime" of all-time. He placed five-time MVP and two-time Super Bowl champion Peyton Manning at the top of his list. That's not a huge surprise considering Manning had plenty of great regular seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.
What's pretty bizarre, however, is that Simms ranked Tom Brady outside of the top five. In fact, he just made the list at No. 9.
Here's the top 10 from Simms:
- Peyton Manning
- Patrick Mahomes
- Aaron Rodgers
- John Elway
- Brett Favre
- Josh Allen
- Lamar Jackson
- Dan Marino
- Tom Brady
- Roger Staubach
As you'd imagine, NFL fans ripped Simms for ranking Brady outside of the top five.
"This should be enough to have someone banned from ever publicly speaking about the sport again," one fan wrote on X.
"I'm taking 44 year old Tom Brady over any version of Brett Favre," a second fan replied.
"First 2 guys on this list sure did spend a lot of that 'prime' losing to the 9th guy on this list," a third fan pointed out.
"Tom Brady at 9 is malpractice," another fan declared.
TB12 needs to be ranked higher.
If we're using Brady's best statistical season as his "prime," we're not sure how Simms placed him at No. 9. The seven-time Super Bowl champion had 4,806 passing yards and 50 touchdowns during the 2007 regular season.
Even at the age of 44, Brady had 5,316 yards and 43 touchdowns for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Suffice to say, Simms' quarterback rankings are in desperate need of a makeover.
