Magic Come Out on Top of Blazers After Overtime Thriller
Lester Quinones had a good night, and the Orlando Magic were more than happy to let him keep firing.
Quinones poured in a game-high 30 points Sunday night, leading Orlando to a 112-105 overtime win over the Portland Trail Blazers in NBA Summer League action. He did it efficiently, too, knocking down 9 of his 14 shots while stuffing the stat sheet with eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. It was the kind of all-around performance that kept surfacing whenever Orlando needed a basket or a momentum swing.
The Magic were sharp offensively from just about everywhere. They shot 55.4% from the field and hit 48% from beyond the arc, but the biggest difference came inside. Orlando owned the paint, outscoring Portland 48-26, and that steady stream of easy baskets helped erase an early hole.
Portland looked ready to run away with it after building a 33-22 lead through one quarter. Orlando, though, didn’t panic. The Magic worked over the next two quarters, outscoring the Trail Blazers 48-38 during that stretch and pulling even at 71 entering the fourth.
