Wagner graduate Jordan Clarkson re-signs with New York Knicks on 1-year deal

Fresh off an NBA championship, San Antonio native Jordan Clarkson is re-signing with the New York Knicks on a one-year deal, according to a report from ESPN's Shams Charania.

The contract is worth $3.9 million, Clarkson's agency, Klutch Sports, told ESPN.

The Wagner graduate averaged 8.6 points per game on 45.7% shooting last season and saw the court in four games in the NBA Finals against the Spurs. He averaged 3.5 points in just under 6 minutes per game in the Finals, including a 10-point performance in Game 3.

Clarkson is entering his 13th season in the NBA and his second with the Knicks. He has earned $190.8 million from his previous NBA contracts, according to Spotrac.com.

Taken in the second round of the 2014 NBA draft by the Washington Wizards and subsequently traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, Clarkson earned NBA All-Rookie First Team honors after averaging 11.9 points and 3.5 assists per game.

For his career, Clarkson has averaged 15.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game while playing for the Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Utah Jazz and the Knicks. He won NBA Sixth Man of the Year in 2021 after averaging 18.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists with the Jazz.

As a junior and senior at Wagner, Clarkson helped lead the Thunderbirds to back-to-back Class 5A (now 6A) state semifinal appearances in 2009-10. He was named to the Express-News Super Team in both seasons and was tabbed Express-News Boys Basketball Player of the Year as a senior.

He signed with Tulsa and transferred to Missouri after making the All-Conference USA First Team in 2012. As a senior with the Tigers, he earned second-team All-SEC honors in 2014.
