Wife Of Former MLB Outfielder Gorkys Hernández Dies In Tragedy

Former MLB outfielder Gorkys Hernández has revealed that his wife, Deisy Tovar de Hernández, has passed away this week.

It was reported that Hernández's wife was killed by the 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes that shook up Venezuela this week. The death toll has sadly shot up to 1,430 as of this Saturday afternoon.

Hernández shared a touching tribute for his wife on Instagram this Saturday.

"You are and always will be the queen of my life-the most beautiful, lovely, and precious woman in the world," Hernández wrote. "You were the one who always found a way to lift me up during hard times; you were and remain the most beautiful woman of my life. You will always be with me, at every hour and in every moment. Fly high, my princess, my queen; may God hold you in His glory. Guide me to keep moving forward and to lift up our family.

"Love you-rest in peace, my girl. Give me strength, love of my life, because we had a mission, and I am here to fulfill it. You taught me to be strong through life's challenges-which is never easy-but that is how you want me to be, and that is how it will be. My warrior, Deisy Maria Tovar De Hernandez."

Hernández played in the MLB from 2012-2019, suiting up for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Miami Marlins, San Francisco Giants and Boston Red Sox. As you'd imagine, baseball fans and players are heartbroken for him at this time.

"Brother Gorkys, I am deeply sorry for the departure of your wife. There are no words that can ease such a pain, but I want you to know that you count on my prayers and support," one person said.

"My brother I'm with you, I ask God to fill your heart with strength," a second person wrote.

"Stay strong my brother. My deepest condolences," another person commented on Instagram.

Our thoughts are with Hernández as he navigates through this unthinkable tragedy.
