Local boxing club seeks sponsors ahead of October event
The Coachella 7.6.0 boxing club is gearing up to bring live amateur boxing to town Saturday, Oct. 17.
The event will take place at the Tucker Fire Department starting at 1 p.m. Organizers said they have scheduled about 30 three-round bouts for the card.
The club is currently seeking sponsors and donations to help fund the ring and overall event costs.
"We have raised quite a bit, and we're really close to, I would say, like where we need to be to just be comfortable," Club Secretary Kayla Donner said. "I think just getting the word out in general would be wonderful."
Businesses and individuals looking to sponsor the event can participate at four different financial levels.
The platinum level is $1,000 and includes a logo on the event banner, five weekly social media shoutouts, six free tickets and a ringside table. The gold level is $700 and includes a logo, three shoutouts and four tickets. The silver level is $400 and includes a logo, one shoutout and two free tickets. The bronze level is $200 and includes a logo, one shoutout and one ticket.
"Donations or sponsorship are both something that we still need," Donner said. "If you felt led to do that, we would greatly appreciate it. So, we're very thankful that we were chosen to put one on here in Palestine. But this is very foreign to Palestine. I mean, these boxers work really hard, you know what I mean? I would just love for Palestine in general to know about it and to get the word out. I would say that would probably be the biggest thing."
The club has already secured sponsorships from several local entities. Carrol's Wrecker is a platinum sponsor. Five Star Massage is a gold sponsor while Pineywoods Law, Nuna's Cajun, Sheps BBQ and Community MPACT Love is Active and Ernie Willams Insurance have signed on as silver sponsors. Bronze-level sponsors include Paty Castillo, Andrea and Nicole Ruggeri from Ruggeri Stables, Sarah Patton with Geneva Financial, Saints & Sinners, Habilidoso Jiu Jitsu, Dewey Thurgood and Crystal Parton.
The deadline for sponsorships is Tuesday, Sept. 1, to allow time for banners and shirts to be printed before the event.
The exhibition is sanctioned by USA Boxing, which will provide certified referees, medical staff and judges.
