Lasko leads RockHounds to win over Corpus Christi
Ryan Lasko had three hits and drove in two runs to lead the Midland RockHounds to an 8-5 win over Corpus Christi on Thursday at Momentum Bank Ballpark.
Midland (31-28) won its second straight over the Hooks (26-34) and it got off to a great start when Brennan Milone hit a two-run home run to left in the bottom of the first inning.
Lasko, who was 3-for-4, then made it 3-0 in the fourth with an RBI double.
Corpus Christi cut it to 3-2 in the top of the sixth inning, before the RockHounds extended the lead back to three runs with two runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Midland had as much as a 7-3 lead through seven innings.
Leo De Vries was 2-for-4 with a walk, and two runs scored; and Cameron Leary was 2-for-3 with a walk, RBI and a run scored for the RockHounds.
Midland starter Henry Baez (1-2) got the win after he allowed one run on five hits, three walks with five strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings.
Tyler Whitaker led the Hooks by going 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored; while Joseph Sullivan was 3-for-4 with a walk and run scored.
James Hicks (3-5) took the loss for the Hooks.
The teams meet in the fourth game of a six-game series at 7 p.m. Friday at Momentum Bank Ballpark.
