Carson Hocevar Rakes in Huge Merch Numbers After Talladega Win
So, it turns out the win at Talladega for Carson Hocevar was even bigger than everyone thought. For his first career win in the NASCARCup Series, Hocevar made sure to leave his mark, on the track and online.
Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal reports that Carson Hocevar raked in the numbers in the 24 hours after that victory. His race win diecast from Lionel sold more in that 24 hour timeframe than any other diecast since the diecast producer struck a deal with NASCAR in 2010.
Just to put that into perspective, Dale Earnhardt Jr. won a Daytona 500 in 2014. Chase Elliott won the 2020 championship at Phoenix. Hocevar's Talladega win sold more in 24 hours after the win than either of those cars, not to mention all of the other outstanding moments and finishes from the last 16 years of NASCAR racing.
On top of that, Hocevar made a fist of cash on his own site. We're talking massive merch numbers.
"Hocevar's personal e-commerce site, which has items like a $35 first-win T-shirt, generated nearly $500,000 in sales over the first month after Talladega," Stern reports. The Hurricane is running wild, folks.
Things are going very well for Carson Hocevar at the moment. He's 7th in points, has all of the momentum in the world, and looks like the heir apparent as the future face of NASCAR. On top of that, Hocevar was also recently named to the Time 100 Sports list.
If his first win made him a superstar overnight, I wonder what we'll see after he gets the second, third, fourth... you get it. As long as he keeps winning, the sky is the limit for NASCAR's young disruptor.
