Sports Fans Devastated Over Boston Radio Host Christopher Gasper's Health Update

Beloved sports columnist and radio host Christopher Gasper announced this Tuesday that he's battling cancer.

Gasper, who works for the Boston Globe and 98.5 The Sports Hub, revealed that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer before the start of the 2025 season for the New England Patriots. He'll be undergoing surgery to address cancerous areas.

"Some personal news: You won't be reading, seeing, or hearing me for a bit. Before last Patriots season, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. My goal was to cover the full season. I did that, and then re-weighed treatment plans. Recent scans showed additional cancerous areas. Time for surgery," Gasper wrote.

"My prognosis is encouraging, and, hopefully, I'll see you on the flip side. Then you can resume telling me how misguided you feel I am in the views I express about sports in the @bostonglobe, on @985thesportshub, and @nbcsboston. I am really looking forward to that normalcy. I want to sincerely thank my amazing family, friends, and work colleagues for their heartfelt support. It means the world to me. I also want to thank the incredible doctors at Boston Medical Center and MGH who have guided me through this to this point and respected my wishes while steadfastly protecting my long-term health outlook."

Sports world offering their prayers to Gasper.

Gasper has been with the Boston Globe since 2001. He was their beat writer for the Patriots for several years before eventually landing a prominent role with 98.5 The Sports Hub.

As you'd imagine, sports media members are pulling for Gasper to make a full and speedy recovery.

"Difficult news, but you're built for this," Jemele Hill said. "Prayers and support for you and your loved ones."

"Chris is one of the best people I know in our business, and one of my best friends," Albert Breer wrote. "Over the last 10 months, I've been absolutely blown away by how he's handled this, and continued to work at such a high level. We're all praying for him, but he's got this. I know that."

"So sorry to hear this Chris. Looking forward to seeing you back at Gillette and the studio," Alex Barth commented.

Our thoughts are with Gasper at this time.
