SMU volleyball team to compete for $1 million prize at AT&T Stadium event
The producers, behind the ESPY Awards, NFL Honors and Met Gala’s livestream are bringing their talents to the world of college volleyball with “Spikes Under the Lights,” set to take place on Aug. 27.
The four programs involved include two ranked in the top 25 of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll with No. 11 SMU and No. 2 Nebraska, as well as Florida and Penn State.
The event will take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington and is the first women’s college sporting event to ever take place at the iconic stadium. The $1 million prize pool is the largest ever for women’s college sports event, which will take place over three hours and feature two semifinal games and a final with three sets per match.
For fans hoping to attend, pre-sale tickets are available on the events website starting at $26, and regular tickets will be available starting May 8.
Those looking to watch but unable to attend will be able to watch the event in “prime-time on a major national network” but further details on when and which network have yet to be released.
