Andrews, Grady sending tennis players to UIL state tournament
Andrews mixed doubles team Zoey Harris and David Seals won a hard-fought match to punch their ticket to the UIL tennis state tournament on Tuesday.
Seals and Harris beat Seminole's Tristan Hare and Jazlynn Holmstrom, 6-3, 6-7 (7-3), 7-5, in the mixed doubles third-place match during the Region I-4A Tennis Tournament at McLeod Tennis Center in Lubbock.
Seals and Harris, as one of the top three finishers at the regional tournament, qualified for the UIL Class 4A Tennis State Tournament, May 7-8 in San Antonio.
It's the second consecutive year that Harris and Seals qualified for state.
Harris and Seals won their first two tournament matches at regionals before losing 6-0, 6-1 to Canyon's Cooper Richardson and Hannah Terry in the mixed doubles semifinal.

FIVE TO STATE
Grady is sending five tennis players to state with their performance at the Region I-A Tennis Tournament, Tuesday at South Plains College in Levelland.
Grady junior Adrian Mata defeated Boys Ranch's Aaden Martinez, 6-4, 5-3, in the boys singles third-place match to earn a repeat trip to the state tournament in San Antonio.
Grady junior Camden Wiebe and senior Knight Durham defeated Booker's Marco Flores and Brayland Gonzales, 6-0, 6-0, in the boys doubles third-place match to secure their berth.
Wiebe and Durham will be heading back to state on May 7-8 in San Antonio after losing in the state quarterfinals last year.
Grady senior Raegan Dennis and junior Macie Stack rallied to beat Fort Elliott School's Jayla Dickey and Jaylie Dickey, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, in the girls doubles third-place match to earn their spot.

PLACES SECOND
Garden City's Lacy Seidenberger and Presley Jost placed second in mixed doubles during the Region II-A Tennis Tournament, Tuesday at Bentwood Country Club in San Angelo.
The top three finish qualified Jost and Seidenberger for the UIL Class 1A state tournament for the second straight year. Jost and Seidenberger reached the UIL state quarterfinals in 2025.
Seidenberger and Jost earned their state tournament spot by beating Fort Davis' Gracie Boultinghouse and Jesus Ramos, 6-1, 6-2, in the semifinal.
Crowell's Sage Bearden and Cooper Carroll defeated Jost and Seidenberger, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, in the final. The winner of the final gets a bye in the state tournament.
