The Cowboys signed linebacker Will Smith on Saturday. Dallas selected the former Texas Tech player in the seventh round of the 2014 draft, and he spent a portion of his rookie season on their practice squad.

Smith fills the roster spot left open by Jeremy Mincey’s holdout.

The Cowboys were short on linebackers after Keith Rivers retired and Rolando McClain was placed on the physically unable to perform list while rehabbing from knee surgery.

The Cowboys signed linebacker Keith Smith on Friday.
