Dallas-Fort Worth selected as host for the March Madness. Which year is NCAA headed here?

The NCAA Tournament announced upcoming locations for the 2027 and 2028 seasons and Dallas-Fort Worth was selected to host a 2028 NCAA men’s basketball regional.

The games will be played at American Airlines Center, the same arena that hosted the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight in 2024.

Dallas Sports Commission executive director Monica Paul expressed her excitement at the announcement in a statement.

“Today is another great example of how big wins happen here with the announcement that Dallas will host the 2028 NCAA Men’s Basketball Regional,” Paul said. “We are excited to showcase the passion Dallas has for March Madness and elite collegiate athletic events, further solidifying our reputation as both the number one sports business city in the nation and a global sports destination.”

NCAA senior vice president of championships Lynda Tealer spoke about the process of selecting host cities for March Madness.

“The enthusiasm and interest from around the country to host NCAA championships continues to be a testament to the quality of our events,” Tealer said. “For this cycle we incorporated more data into the process to help our sport and oversight committees through the evaluation and selection of sites as we had so many quality venues and locations looking to host during these two seasons.”

This will be only the second time the American Airlines Center has hosted a NCAA Men’s Basketball Regional.

Dickies Arena was also announced as a host for the first and second rounds of the 2027 NCAA Tournament.

This will be the second time the Fort Worth arena has hosted the NCAA Tournament with the first coming in 2022.
