TCU’s Jameer Nelson Jr. signs Summer League deal with San Antonio

Former Horned Frog Jameer Nelson Jr. will begin his pro career with the San Antonio Spurs.

Nelson signed a summer league deal with San Antonio and will compete with the Spurs at the California Classic Summer League, which begins on July 6. The son of NBA all-star and champion Jameer Nelson, Nelson Jr. spent one season at TCU, averaging 11.2 points, 3.3 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 2.1 steals. He was voted honorable mention All-Big 12.

Before landing in Fort Worth, Nelson spent two seasons at Delaware and two seasons at George Washington. Now he’ll hope to follow in the footsteps of his father that played for a decade in Orlando, a season in Dallas and three more in Denver among other franchises.

Nelson joins San Antonio draft picks Stephon Castle and Harrison Ingram in the summer league as the Spurs continue to try and find playmakers to surround Victor Wembanyama.
