What to know before IndyCar race comes to the Texas Motor Speedway

The NTT IndyCar Series comes to Fort Worth for the 27th year in a row at the Texas Motor Speedway.

Here’s what you need to know before the race kicks off.

What is it?

The PPG 375 race is an annual race in the NTT IndyCar Series that takes place at the Texas Motor Speedway. The NTT IndyCar series is an open-wheel single-seat formula racing car league currently comprised of 33 drivers. The league was established in 1996 with its first race taking place in 1997 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Who’s coming?

There are 33 active drivers in IndyCar. Here are a couple of drivers of note who will be at PPG 375.

Josef Newgarden drives for Team Penske and currently is the No. 18 driver in IndyCar. Newgarden is a two-time IndyCar Series champion with his last title coming in 2019. Newgarden is a native of Nashville, Tenn., and this season will mark his 12th as a full-time IndyCar driver.

Will Power is the No. 7 ranked driver in IndyCar and races for Team Penske. Power is a two-time IndyCar champion and the current defending champion. Power ranks fifth in IndyCar wins and has won at the Texas Motor Speedway twice over his 18-year career.

Pato O’Ward races for Arrow McLaren and is the No. 2 ranked driver in IndyCar. O’Ward attended high school in San Antonio and was born in Monterrey, Mexico. O’Ward previously won at Texas Motor Speedway in 2021.

When

The race will take place on Sunday, April 2, at 10 a.m. CT. The races can also be streamed on Peacock or through IndyCar’s website.

Where

The Texas Motor Speedway is located in Fort Worth at 3545 Lone Star Circle. Tickets can also be purchased for individual races or season passes on the Texas Motor Speedway website.

Other Events

This year the IndyCar race will be preceded by the SpeedyCash.com 250, a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race on April 1.

The Texas Motor Speedway is also host to a number of other events during the month April such as the NASCAR Racing Experience where ordinary drivers have a chance to get behind the wheel of a NASCAR race car.

Fuelfest a one-day festival that blends a passion for driving with live music, guests and vendors. As well as The Bubble Run, a 5k run that takes place through a sea of bubbles.
