Cool down in July? While running? The Cowtown Marathon has a plan for that
The Cowtown Marathon isn’t for another eight months, yet officials with the annual race through Fort Worth are already thinking ahead to next year.
Running the event, or any event, will likely never be the same, with watering stations likely to give way to self-hydrating at least until there is a vaccine for COVID-19.
So, race officials have created the 2020 Cowtown Cool Down, a virtual 10K, half-marathon or full marathon.
The timing for a cool down might seem odd, with it now officially summer, but here’s the catch: Race participants will receive a personal hydration system upon finishing the event.
Registration is $65, and participants will choose between a hydration vest or belt so that they can carry water on future long runs. Runners will also receive a tank top.
Here’s how it works:
Registration opened Monday, and participants have until Aug. 31 to complete their race.
Upon registering, a bib and instructions will be mailed to each participant. Once the distance is completed, the hydration system will be mailed.
By printing a finisher certificate, runners can get a $10 coupon for the 2021 Cowtown Marathon.
