Texas Wesleyan softball officially signed seven recruits for the 2018 season back on Oct. 23, including four from area teams.

All seven will be true freshmen in the 2017-18 school year, all hailing from Texas.

From the area who signed included Miranda Day (Keller), Saeya Esparza (Burleson), Lauren Garza (Mansfield Timberview) and Kendyl Slaboda (Saginaw Chisholm Trail).

Day played first base and was an All-Academic selection for Keller in 2015. She plays select with Texas Fusion.

Esparza is a second baseman and outfielder for the Elks. She was named second-team All-District and was named All-Johnson County in her junior season.

Garza plays second, third and shortstop for the Wolves. She was named Academic All-District and Honorable Mention All-District in her junior year.

Slaboda is a utility player for the Rangers and was named second-team All-District and All-Academic in her sophomore season.

The Lady Rams are scheduled to begin the 2017 season on Feb. 3, when they host Ottawa University at Sycamore Park.

They are coming off a season in which they went 29-27 overall and 18-10 in the Sooner Athletic Conference play. The Lady Rams reached the SAC Championship game after stunning No. 1 Oklahoma City with a 3-2 win on the road during the SAC Tournament.
