Introducing The Point, a home for conservative viewpoints and arguments

Logo for The Point

Welcome to The Point, a new feature on our site that rounds up conservative Opinion content.

We wanted to create a landing spot for readers to find the best of Star-Telegram columnists and contributors with a center-right perspective. You’ll also see editorials from our Editorial Board on some of the top issues of the day affecting Texans. And we’ll share interesting viewpoints from writers at our fellow McClatchy publications, giving you a window into opinions from Miami and Charlotte to California and Washington state.

We’ll also soon bring you more columns and features from national writers. There’s a hearty tradition of conservative writers and thinkers debating each other, and it remains strong today. From discussion of Donald Trump’s influence in the movement to the role of nationalism, we’re seeing refreshed, lively arguments, and we hope to bring you a wide range of them.

These discussions resonate beyond conservative readers, of course. We hope to provoke more and deeper conversations across the political divide, to challenge readers of every perspective to read beyond their own opinions and sharpen their own viewpoints.

You can also receive our content via email with our once-a-week newsletters. Worth Discussion arrives every Wednesday with all of our Opinion pieces. Right Turns, a Saturday publication, wraps up the week’s worth of center-right columns. The newsletters are free (though some of the pieces linked to may be available only to our subscribers). Sign up for either or both here.
