Politics

The behavior of candidates running for the highest office in America is despicable.

It’s reminiscent of bullies on the school grounds. The verbose, narcissistic “wannabe” candidates are declared the “winners.”

This is due to the TV networks’ obsession with greed and sensationalism.

Debate moderators have proven that with the divisive and opinionated tone of their inquiries.

Substance is lost in the anger of the general public over a divided society.

The focus has been to destroy the character and credibility of anyone with better poll ratings.

It’s time that our presidential candidates quit verbally abusing one another and get down to how they will handle our nation’s problems.

How do they intend to protect Social Security for the aging population?

What about people living below the poverty line?

Our problematic education system?

What are their plans for working with leaders of other nations?

What are their plans for the refugees that continue to come to our borders?

Give us some answers and quit degrading the other candidates.

I’ve been confused about why Donald Trump has been a frontrunner in the polls, but then I ran across a Cornell University study.

Essentially, the study says that incompetence deprives people of their ability to recognize their own incompetence, or, as author Bill Bryson puts it: “Dumb people are too dumb to know it.”

Am I the only person who saw Ben Carson being completely snubbed in the Republicans’ New Hampshire “debate” Saturday night?

It was actually embarrassing.

I’ve never seen anything like the brazen, rude and disappointing behavior, but I can’t say I’m surprised.

Can we have some outrage from the African-American community?

I had planned to vote for someone else, but Carson has my vote now.

If you are receiving multiple, very slick, expensive election mailers, remember that when big money supports someone, they usually expect something in return.

Kernan for judge

Deborah Kernan, candidate for Parker County Court at Law No. 2 judge, possesses the most experience and has shown the conservative leadership we need.

Kernan is a longtime Parker County resident and started practicing law here in 1997.

She served as president of her homeowners’ association for five years and played a crucial part in many neighborhoods coming together.

Kernan practices conservative family values and a conservative philosophy that all Republicans should strive to meet.

Deborah possesses the best aspects of our great conservative party.

Parkway speed

My response to the complainers about the 50 mph speed limit on the Chisholm Trail Parkway is to go for the alternative: Hulen Street, Bryant Irvin Road, Vickery Boulevard, Granbury Road.

Let’s see how much time you save on any of them.

Please save your fast lane and corners for the Texas Motor Speedway so the rest of us can safely appreciate our ride down the Chisholm Trail Parkway.

Bea Starkey,

Fort Worth
