Clinton emails; healthcare; racism; Zika virus; not elderly

Clinton emails

Richard Greene’s rant about Hillary Clinton’s email issue reminds me of a security breach at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. (See Jan. 31 Greene column, “Clinton’s ludicrous lie about her ‘convenient’ email.’’)

On a week-long trip to the Pentagon, our secret weapons data was shared with the U.S. Air Force.

Returning to DFW Airport after midnight on a Friday night, I went home with the secret data inappropriately in my car’s trunk. On Saturday morning I deposited it in my office safe.

Subsequently, the Air Force/FBI discovered my transgression and senior management initialed (not signed) a short note of reprimand to be more careful.

In the real world, unintentional security breaches are resolved via a reprimand, not by prosecution, as right-wing hate merchants like Greene want.

Steve Hadley, Benbrook

As I read the news articles about how one of our presidential candidates has sent top-secret information by email, I wonder what if, in my 22 years of U.S. Air Force service, I had even accidentally misplaced one top-secret file or folder.

What would have happened to me? Just a regular old chief master sergeant?

I don’t think I would have heard, “Hey! That’s OK, Chief.”

I would still be in prison for treason, busted in rank and dishonorably discharged.

When will this country wake up? Famous and wealthy people have privileges.

Healthcare

William Oglesby wrote in a Wednesday letter that he believes everyone has the “right” to the healthcare that Planned Parenthood provides.

First, I would say healthcare is not a “right,” but certainly a blessing.

Second, I would beg to differ: Abortion is not healthcare.

Third, what about the rights of the unborn?

Fourth, there are many places that help uninsured women with their healthcare needs.

Fifth, Oglesby is very naive or deceived if he believes that abortion is a very small portion of Planned Parenthood’s income. Their annual income is $230 million a year.

I challenge anyone to ask a woman who has had an abortion if she had good healthcare with Planned Parenthood.

The majority of women who have had an abortion regret it deeply.

Racism

In his Jan. 24 column (“King: We must live together as brothers or perish as fools”), Richard Greene cited polls and articles about the increase in racism, some of them by black writers, and then made a huge unsupported jump to blaming President Obama.

Pointing out that some of the authors are black was racist, in my opinion.

If you’ve never heard anyone in your circle of acquaintances here in Arlington say, “There’s a n----- in the White House,” you need to get out more.

Zika virus

Infection by the Zika virus happens only when someone travels to South/Central America and doesn’t protect from mosquito bites.

The only way to get the Zika virus in the U.S. is through sex.

The way to fix that would be to charge a person spreading the disease with a felony.

If someone has the disease and has unprotected sex, he or she is a terrorist and needs to be sent to Guantanamo Bay with the rest of the terrorists.

Not elderly

In Monday’s newspaper, a victim was described as a “70-year-old lady,” then as “elderly.”

My wife is 70 and most certainly is not elderly in the eyes of anyone who knows her.
