Challenge to Dems; don’t blame breeders; voice from the past; under construction

Challenge to Dems

The president is a Democrat.

How much more sand can he kick in the Democrats’ faces before they do something about his continued presence in the White House?

Has he not done enough to the country that will continue to burn the Democrat Party and its chances to govern?

The scandals are too numerous to mention; the lies and falsehoods too numerous and too frequent; the 180-degree turns on his statements far too frequent; and the fact that he really doesn’t know much and can’t do anything should shake Democrats in to action.

That action is impeachment (by the House of Representatives) and conviction by the Senate.

Democrats should consider country first, party second. Stand up and be counted; it will take about 15 Democrat senators joining with the Republicans to turn this president into a former president.

Democrats: Be American; be patriots.

— Marshall Stewart, Fort Worth

Don’t blame breeders

Regarding the December article “Keep our Texas wildlife wild,” by Jenny Sanders:

To suggest that no one supports the Texas deer industry is far from the truth.

Your readers should be informed that the economic impact of the Texas deer industry is substantial.

Texas A&M University found that the Texas deer industry has an economic impact in excess of $630 million in 2007; a recent study put it over $1 billion in 2013.

Our industry strongly supports the assistance of licensed veterinarians when administering medications to any animal.

Further, we have funded a series of drug residue studies using more than 130 deer with Texas A&M University, and in conjunction with Texas Parks and Wildlife, to better educate veterinarians and producers so venison can be consumed safely without fear of antibiotics or other drugs in the meat.

Deer breeders do care about our clients’ welfare, and we care about private property rights as well.

Landowners with large low-fenced properties can manage them as they see fit, and high-fenced property owners can manage their properties according to their goals, but neither has the right to force management practices on the other in Texas.

— Dick Cain, Saint Jo

Voice from the past

I was surprised to hear from the ex-Fed chief on Dec.31. (See: “Greenspan says U.S. economy is far from thriving”)

As a disciple of Ayn Rand, he claimed to be surprised by the economic collapse of 2008 because he believed that markets always behave in a rational manner.

Like his mentor, he is out-of-date and wrong.

— Bruce W. Rider, Grapevine

Under construction

Governor-elect Abbott wants $4 billion for highway funding.

For the 45 years I’ve been in Fort Worth, Interstate 35 between DFW and San Antonio has been under construction!

Maybe our new governor can finally finish I-35 construction.

This is the same group we reelected to govern?

— Steve Hadley, Benbrook
