Respect foreign leaders; Texas treasure; taxes going up

Respect foreign leaders

Regarding “The Interview” — a movie produced by Sony Pictures for the purpose of making money by mocking and ridiculing the head of state of North Korea.

To the Koreans, the film is simple and insulting.

This behavior brings consequences, and Sony has paid by becoming the target of the cyber attacks.

There is a moral to the story. We have to learn to respect the leaders of other countries.

What would happen if the movie were directed at Putin, Queen Elizabeth or the German chancellor?

— Raul Ortiz, Hurst

Texas treasure

John Henry’s Sunday article about Johnny Vaught, a very successful, long time coach at Ole Miss., entitled “Ole Miss legend had Fort Worth roots” was well done and much appreciated by Ole Miss fans.

I wanted to offer one correction about TCU-Ole Miss football history. Henry failed to mention the 1956 Cotton Bowl, which was a major win for the Rebels that helped to propel the school to national football prominence.

Johnny Vaught was surely a Texas treasure for the University of Mississippi.

— Mike Neelly, Tupelo, Miss.

Taxes going up

It doesn’t take a rocket surgeon to notice a Bass juggernaut when it’s coming straight at you.

I’m sure a case can be made that Fort Worth needs a new arena.

The argument is always the same: It brings money to the community. All I’ve noticed over the years is that my taxes keep going up.

It’s amazing the overwhelming willingness of voters to impose a tax on the people most likely to benefit from western events in Fort Worth, i.e. the young and working people for whom animal husbandry is a way of life.

— J. Lee Johnson IV,

Fort Worth
