Backing Cruz

Many Texans agree with U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz about not using our taxes to fund Planned Parenthood.

That’s why we voted for him, and we applaud him as willing to use the power of the purse.

I’m sickened that he is being denigrated for simply doing his job and opposing outgoing House Speaker John Boehner.

It’s extremely unlikely that President Obama would have vetoed the budget bill just because of this one attachment. And if he did, then put the blame where it belongs.

Rather than bash Cruz, let the headlines say: “President Obama shuts down the government over the people’s choice to defund Planned Parenthood”!

Lynn Watson, Hurst

Ted Cruz has my full support in defunding Planned Parenthood.

I applaud him for being brave enough to watch the carnage of the videos.

I had to stop after the fifth video. But I trust Carly Fiorina’s description.

Cruz believes all life is sacred and deserves to get a chance.

New airport logo

A New York firm was paid $1.5 million to redesign the logo for DFW Airport?

Seriously? We don’t have firms here that do similar work?

Airport board members want us to fly out of the local airport, but clearly have little interest in keeping the money here.

Our local marketing firms, whose employees fly out of our local airport, must feel rejected.

Presumably none is capable of creating such an ingenious logo with plain sans serif letters D, F and W that scream “Airport!

However, I will say that using orange instead of the sky-blue color is appropriate. Orange symbolizes our summer heat.

United Way

I agree with your Editorial Board that Tax Assessor-Collector Ron Wright’s comments regarding the United Way are completely uncalled for!

I wonder if I could stipulate that none of my tax payments go to pay the salaries of Wright and County Commissioner Andy Nguyen?
