If Wambsganss loses Senate race, it’s not because Republicans ‘have jobs’ | Opinion
A MAGA insult
State Senate candidate Leigh Wambsganss stuck to the MAGA playbook with insulting, divisive comments suggesting that her backers might have trouble finding time to vote early because “Republicans have jobs.” Nice. A vote for Taylor Rehmet is a vote against this hateful mentality.

It’s about terror, not immigration
Is America a country where it is acceptable to kill people because they disagree with government actions or attempt to record what is happening?
The shooting of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis was not about immigration. It was about terror. It was about making people afraid to speak or to act if they might offend someone in power.
The United States needs leaders who are willing to condemn such conduct — now.

Takeover isn’t answer for schools
Regarding your editorial Wednesday, I agree that it was refreshing for Lake Worth ISD to acknowledge responsibility for its struggles and that Fort Worth ISD students are not receiving the quality of education they deserve. (Jan. 28, 11A, “School district steps up amid state takeover. FWISD? Don’t be silly”)
I disagree that the districts’ situations are similar. Lake Worth received F grades on five of six schools. Fort Worth had 31 Fs in 2024 and 11 in 2025, out of about 125 schools. At worst, that’s a quarter, which is terrible, but not a complete disaster like Lake Worth.
There’s no reason to think the state can do better. In Houston, they’ve imposed one-size-fits-all, inflexible lesson plans that leave teachers no discretion and have led to enormous turnover. Our state leaders hate public education and want it to fail, so how can we trust any state agency?

FWISD board, focus on student needs
The continuing saga of the Fort Worth school board‘s resistance to a state takeover affirms that board members need to be replaced. It reveals that trustees have the best interests of adults as their focus rather than those of students. Students’ needs will never be best served by board members who do not understand their responsibilities and cannot hold themselves accountable.
