I’m 95 and never saw a stupider election in my life. Quit fighting and talk issues | Opinion
Focus on war, education
With all the truly important issues facing the world, this election cycle has turned into one of the stupidest I have ever seen. In my 95th year, I am totally disgusted by the constant barrage of negativity. All we hear are snipes at the opponent. I’d like to know how candidates are going to vote on these crucial issues coming at us from every angle.
Wars and what we can do to help prevent even more devastation from such conflicts are high on the list. Turning out generation after generation of children who can’t read is high on the list. True inflation numbers are really high on the list for marginal-income households.
Let’s get out of people’s bedrooms and face the fact that there is a crisis of illegal immigration. Stop the lies and obfuscation and get down to real issues. Give us something to vote for instead of against.

Mike Barber right for Tarrant County
Tarrant County Precinct 1 deserves a fresh pair of eyes instead of more of the same old tunnel vision. Mike Barber works in the community, as he has for years without a big production to showcase his presence. Voters should recognize his vision that everyone in the precinct matters.
Barber is our only hope to clean up the Tarrant County Commissioners Court and the sheriff’s office.

Republicans take away freedom
I no longer trust male Republicans. They want to make health care and moral decisions for us concerning abortion. I have no problem with people making choices specific to their own needs. I do have a problem with people taking away my freedom of choice.
Why do some women support men who have long histories of trying to control us? If you are pro-life and want to deliver, that is your choice. If you want to end the pregnancy, that is your choice. I don’t need a man to tell me what to do.
Republicans support the freedom of choice concerning guns, but not a women’s right to choose an abortion. Democrats support women.

All on Bill Waybourn’s watch
Being booked in the Tarrant County Jail should not be a death sentence. But on Sheriff Bill Waybourn’s watch, at least 65 people have died in the county’s custody. One mother gave birth alone in a cell and her baby died.
On Waybourn’s watch, two jailers have been indicted on murder charges in an inmate’s death. Tarrant County taxpayers have paid millions to settle lawsuits. And these are only the cases we know about.
Enough is enough. It is long past time we retired this sheriff, who doesn’t seem to care that taxpayers are responsible for cleaning up his messes.

Trump has a record to rely on
Most of us believe that actions speak louder than words. In this election, we have a long track record of Donald Trump’s actions as president and a shorter record of Kamala Harris’ actions as vice president. The track records clearly favor Trump on illegal immigration, inflation control, income taxes, energy independence, diversity initiatives, support for our police and general backbone on the international stage.
But rhetoric is important, too, and Harris’ proposals are scary. She said she favors Supreme Court “reforms.” One likely scenario is called packing the court, which effectively would mean the loss of a check on power in our system. We could have a rubber-stamp court, clearly not the intent of our Founding Fathers. This must not be allowed to happen.
