Thank you to Rep. Kay Granger and her staff for helping this veteran
Greene misses the point entirely
Richard Greene is deluded if he thinks Democrats will vote for President Donald Trump simply because they don’t like Sen. Bernie Sanders. (Feb. 23, 5B, “Fort Worth Democrats, think twice about embracing socialism”)
That’s like saying moderate Democrats who don’t like “Medicare for all” but want sensible gun laws, a free press, environmental protections and the rule of law are going to suddenly cross the center yellow line only to be clobbered by an out-of-control president who is swerving around the law and immensely injuring our world standing.
The 2020 election will not be between Sanders and Trump, but most critically between democracy and fascism.

We work together for a society
Richard Greene, I want your Social Security since you detest socialism. I do not want to see you driving on any public roadway or drinking or bathing in water provided by a local water authority.
I’m shocked that you no longer want to give subsidies to oil companies or to farmers who are losing their livelihood, not to mention their lives, as some can’t bear what is happening to them and their families because of tariffs.

Pitts isn’t afraid to tell his truth
Thank you for the clear, concise and wise observations of Leonard Pitts Jr. on Feb. 6. Only about half the country would agree with this kind of journalism about the president and the pitiable reflections of Franklin Graham. But Pitts called it like he saw it, and I agree with him.

Grateful for Granger’s assistance
In 2017, my husband, Charles, became critically ill, and his doctors urged hospice care. He’s a veteran of the Korean War, so someone advised us to check with the office of Rep. Kay Granger to see whether the Veterans Affairs office could help, even though his illness was not service-related.
Granger’s office personnel did all the legwork to connect us to the right people. They treated us with respect, dignity and professionalism. With their help, Charles lived another 15 months.
I thank God for people like Kay Granger. They were our angels when we needed them most.

Evans violates the people’s will
One can argue either side regarding the removal of Child Protective Services cases from the 323rd Court of Tarrant County, but the board’s methods in doing so were worthy of Rep. Adam Schiff.
Judge David Evans’ coup of judicial responsibility was held behind closed doors, intentionally excluding the voters. Board meetings of this kind are traditionally open to the public. From whom are the judges being protected? The very people who elect them and hold them accountable.
Tarrant County voted for Judge Alex Kim knowing full well that his court oversees CPS cases. Evans’ actions were nothing less than a step toward overturning the will of the people.

We must work for the children
Thank you to Tarrant County judges for ensuring rules are followed for assigning Child Protective Services cases. I’m curious to know who caused the unauthorized change in the first place. It is unsettling to read that Judge Alex Kim “likes hearing CPS cases.” There’s nothing to like about hearing stories of child abuse.
These kids deserve good, honest role models and the very best in the supporting agencies, investigators, case workers, attorneys, judges, foster parents and child advocates.
