The mess with the Panther Island project has no end
Sanders wrong for America
Sen. Bernie Sanders is now the Democratic presidential frontrunner. He isn’t even a Democrat. He’s a democratic socialist who advocates serial killers voting from prison, open borders, free college for all, a health-care plan there’s no way to pay for and more government control over citizens.

When will Panther Island fiasco end?
Two stories on Tuesday’s front page, one about Panther Island funding and another about Hurst families about to be forced from their homes, were notable. (“Panther Island gets $1.5M for feasibility study”; “Future remains uncertain for worried Dakota Place tenants”)
Taxpayers have paid more than $300 million for this Panther Island debacle, with much more to come, while families may soon be homeless when they are forced to leave substandard housing.
Northeast Tarrant County has no shelters for the homeless, so the options for these families are not good. These are good people trying their best to make it while leaders focus on a financial boondoggle loosely based on “flood control.”

Panther Island is Granger’s own
I’m not a Fort Worth resident, but if I were, I would be more than slightly peeved. Local taxpayers are $320 million into a project without a feasibility study?
What started as a progressive vision for the future of Fort Worth is fast becoming a concrete anchor attached to Rep. Kay Granger.

Don’t need your stinkin’ expertise
Republicans don’t believe in climate change, but scientists do. Just like Republicans don’t believe what President Donald Trump did was impeachable, but legal scholars do.

We have presidents, not kings
The author of a Feb. 13 letter to the editor expressed the opinion that President Donald Trump should have the power to hire or fire anyone he wants. (9A) America is not Trump’s company. America belongs to you and me. Trump is supposed to serve us.
When senators give in to Trump because they fear for their jobs and people say he has a right to fire patriots who served our country with honor for 30 years, Trump is unleashed to do whatever he wants.
It is very serious to see this president reaching toward supreme authority. This is not the American way.

Trump, Barr have crossed a line
With the unprecedented interference of the president into the affairs of the Justice Department in the case of one of his cronies, Roger Stone, we see the actions of a dictator. It’s traitorous for Attorney General William Barr to knuckle under to pressure from the White House. (Feb. 13, 10A, “Trump praises AG for intervening in Stone sentencing”)
I have never before voiced a comment, favorable or unfavorable, about President Donald Trump. I have remained neutral throughout his term, but this act of interference truly scares me.
These are actions one would expect from Moscow and not Washington.

C’mon — stick with hockey
Did the Metroplex lose the Dallas Stars? The Star-Telegram’s coverage of the Stars and hockey in general has been nonexistent recently. Please bring it back.
