Alan Dershowitz went to law school. He knows better than his impeachment performance
An old, one-sided Mideast deal
President Donald Trump’s “deal of the century” in the Middle East perpetuates the injustices Palestinians have suffered since the 1917 Balfour Declaration. It amounts to another expropriation of their ancestral lands without their consent.
As an obvious pre-election ploy to curry favor with far-right American Jews and Christian Zionists, Trump and his blatantly biased negotiators have worsened anti-American sentiments among Palestinians and other Arabs, both Christian and Muslim, to the detriment of our country and the prospects of an equitable resolution of this centuries-old territorial dispute.

Larry Fowler has my vote
Please join me in voting to re-elect Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler. His extensive law-enforcement career gives him the experience and knowledge to keep our community safe.
Fowler has expanded programs and joined task forces that efficiently fight crime to make Parker County safer. He has stretched our tax dollars while providing results. Fowler also serves with us in the community in several organizations.
He deserves our vote in the Republican primary.

The answer is right in the Bible
In his “Probing the mystery of how human language began,” (Jan. 28, 9A) Richard Lederer writes: “Modern linguists know that humankind was not born with a ready-made language.”
Had the author opened the Bible to Chapters 2 and 3, he would have found the Lord God and Adam and Eve conversing with each other. In Genesis Chapter 11 about the Tower of Babel, we see where God confused men’s speech because of their arrogance. This forced those with similar languages to scatter across the world.
Language has always been in a constant state of development. So, Lederer and his fellow linguists might use the Bible as a source in trying to find an answer to their question.

Granger cares about us right here
Rep. Kay Granger is pro-life. She cares about you and this community. She cares about Texas and our borders. She cares about people who need help. Granger cares about our national defense.
She lives in our district, knows our district and cares about our district. She has an open ear and an open heart to the concerns of our citizens, and she is proactive in defending us. I know this because I have known Kay for more than 30 years. I serve on her Hispanic Advisory Council.
Kay has helped us address situations that are important to us because Kay is part of our community. Maybe her opponent should just talk about himself and what he would do, if anything, instead of just tearing her down.

Impeachment is no criminal trial
President Donald Trump’s lawyer, Alan Dershowitz, made an impassioned Senate speech about “high crimes and misdemeanors,” arguing that impeachment allegations require an underlying criminal violation.
James Madison, a framer of the Constitution, said “impeachment was indispensable” to defend against “the incapacity, negligence or perfidy of the other Magistrate.” Madison argued that because the president is a single executive, “loss of capacity or corruption was more within the compass of probable events.”
Nowhere does Madison restrict impeachment to violations of criminal law.
